Moving credits in traffic exchanges. Um very interesting. Ok before I go any further  just so you know I do not own a traffic exchange. But I’ve been using them for years and I think I’ve got pretty good knowledge of them. What I want to talk about today is how owners handle credit management.  Yea I know I can hear it now, Scott you just said your not an owner what could you possibly know?

I’m not trying to come across as a know it all what I’m going to tell you is strictly my opinion.  You belong to a traffic Exchange will call it podunkte sound good? You surf there or you buy credits and you accumulate a fair amount of credits lets say 15,000. Now you go back to the site a month later, and you see that you still have most of the 15,000 credits and your ad or ads were only shown about 100 times. So why would you even bother to surf there or buy credits.  Now you go to another Te will call this lotsofactivityte. You surf there or buy credits and you accumulate 15,000 credits and you login again ( No not in a month) the next day and most of your credits are gone. Maybe all of them or gone. But here is what happens it gets you to surf more or to buy credits.

So do you see as an owner I would think you would want to move credits fast. Why well it will increase the surfing activity at your TE and if your prices are were they should be you also might see an increase in your credit sales. But like I said all of this is just my opinion. Also let people enter there ads more than once. Like I said just my opinion. Let me know what you think. Oh yea I almost forgot speaking of credits a great place to keep track of your credits is TE Command Post

It amazes me how people mess up the math behind running a traffic exchange.

Great topic Scott. More owners need to think about this before they ‘launch’

scottrohn says:

Thanks for the comment Jon, I was actually hesitant about writing this not being a TE owner myself.

Hey Scott good point. I know I’ve used some of those slow sites. But not often and not on purpose.

Nick

scottrohn says:

Thanks for the comment Nick. Like I said this is my opinion some may agree and I know there will be those that disagree

Well this is a great topic that I would love to see talked about more as I do feel as a surfer and owner there are different views about this. As an owner I do know that credits have to be managed and we all make mistakes that we have to live with during our time of learning.

But as a surfer, I also don’t like to see my credits used up just because of some prize hunters that I know is not looking at my page. Then there is the team surfing and there are pros and cons on that one also – those people are using up my credits because they are competing so their team can be top for the day – is that good either.

Balance is hard between the two and why this makes a great discussion. Thanks for the post Scott.

scottrohn says:

Hi Nancy thanks for your comment. Your right there needs to be a balance between moving credits to slow and to fast. The thing with prize hunters aren’t they going to be prize hunting anyway?

Well what I meant is that most are there just chasing Zubees as an example – the are not looking at the ads they just know they have a certain amount to get to collect those coins – same with alot of the collectables

scottrohn says:

Yea I know what you ment or at least I think I do

John Bell says:

I agree, the ‘movement of credits’ is shadowed by the need for results, if you’re not getting a return on those credits then it doesn’t really matter if they deliver 1 or 1,000,000.

I’d take 10 visits a day that gets me 1 sale than 500 visits a day that generate nothing.. thankfully we have tracking to see where we should be focusing our resources.

scottrohn says:

I wasn’t really talking about results that’s a whole other topic. I was talking about the Te’s that you have a fair amount of credits assigned to your ads. You login to that Te 6 months later and you see that hardly any of those credits were used. So what happens if you were going to surf there your certainly not going to do that now. And if there is any kind of credit sale Your going to ask why would I want to spend money and buy more credits when I still have a Ton of credits. And like I said I’m not an owner but it seems logical when you move credits it gets people to surf more and buy credits Its a win win for the owner of the TE, for the affiliate who earns the commission from the credit sale and even the person who is surfing more or buying credits, But that’s just my opinion

John Bell says:

I agree with the point of your post, in that if you can’t deliver traffic then you obviously can’t sell traffic, but there is certainly a lot more to it than that.

It’s very easy to move credits by allowing bots to surf, or even creating scripts to deliver fake traffic. The act of “moving credits” alone is just one small piece. If you’re not generating sales from those credits, or your conversion rates are in the fractions of percentages, then it might as well be not moving at all.

scottrohn says:

No No I for one don’t want Bots to see my ads and I get the funny feeling no one else does either. If some one is not getting results from there Ads well isn’t that because there ad is no good. And at that point it doesn’t matter how fast or slow the credits are issued to there ads does it? My self I’ve made pages that absolutely flopped and other pages were I got great results boy tracking is a wonderful thing

Credit balance is tricky business. I understand the point you are trying to make but there are many factors which going in to that balancing act. Sure if a site is only delivering 100 credits a month, you are not going to bother surfing there and definitely not going to make a credit purchase. But, if a site is burning through credits very quickly well that throws up all kinds of red flags for me, as well. And although you didn’t want this article to be about results, you have to include results in the purchasing equation. If I burn 15k credits and don’t get results, well I’m probably not going to make any purchases at that site either.
Look for active traffic exchanges with a loyal membership base. Those are the places you want to advertise your business.

scottrohn says:

Hi Cathy thanks for the comment. Yep your right if credits are burned through to fast that’s no good either. And as far as getting results If I see I’m getting results thanks to my tracking s(shout out to Trck.me) at several TE’s and I go to an exchange and my ad;s get shown 2,000 times or more that tells me maybe this is not where I should be surfing or buying credits. But if I’m not getting results anywhere in that case its probably my ad

Tony Tezak says:

Good post Scott. The movement of credits is just a part of the story. 🙂 If a TE is burning credits really fast, I ask myself wonder if it is Bots doing the clicking or in some TEs it might be a very few surfers, but they are surfing thousands and thousands of pages day. In the end, it is results that matter.

scottrohn says:

Yes Tony there is that side of the spectrum if they go to fast you start to wonder. What I was talking about is the exchanges where you have credits assigned to your sites or site depending on what is allowed. and you login to those exchanges everyday or a month or 2 later but you see almost no movement. I know id I assign credits to my sites and when I say my sites its usually one site repeated , I know if I assign credits there not just going to sit there doing nothing and there not going to be moved to fast either And Yes at the end of the day its the results that matter. But if a person’s ad is no good ( believe me I’ve had ad’s that tanked) There not going to get results regardless of how the credits are moving. Happy 7 year anniversary to you and TTP

Only wanna comment on few gensral things, The website pattern is perfect,
the content is really fantastic :D.

scottrohn says:

thanks for your comment I appreciate your input and hope you will come back often
